Michael Myers is a fictional horror character who first appeared in John Carpenter’s 1978 film, Halloween. He murders his elder sister, Judith Myers, before returning home to Haddonfield to murder more teenagers. The Shape was played by Nick Castle for most of the original film and Tony Moran in the final scenes where Michael’s face is revealed.
The character of Michael Myers is the primary antagonist in the Halloween film series, EXCEPT for Halloween III: Season of the Witch since this is not relevant to the rest of the films. From 1978, six people played Michael Myers. John Castle and George P. Wilbur portrayed him twice, Tyler Mane and James Jude Courtney played him more than once (with Mane being the only actor to do so consecutively), and Michael Myers is characterized as pure evil by those who created and developed the character over nine movies - with participants in a survey affirming that he is both directly shown to be evil in the first two movies and indirectly characterized as evil by horror filmmakers. Whereas most ancient cultures viewed masks as symbols of men's identity or representatives of what they most feared,[5] this symbology holds true for Michael Myers, whose mask showcases an identity manufactured (rather than born) and never changing.
